UBTECH and Singtel: connectivity is part of a robotics project

The WRC 2026 memorandum provides a starting point for discussing networks, integration and operations in Iberian projects.

What was announced

UBTECH announced a memorandum with Singtel Singapore at the World Robot Conference in Beijing to explore the combination of robotics, 5G connectivity and enterprise capabilities.

Relevance to Portugal and Spain

HUMATRIX’s interpretation is that connectivity belongs in the initial assessment. Factories, warehouses and service spaces should assess coverage, latency, network security and integration with existing systems. The need for 5G, Wi-Fi or other solutions depends on configuration and environment; it is not a universal requirement for every robot.

Getting started

A pilot should consider connection loss, operating limits, supervision and maintenance responsibilities. The task and infrastructure should be evaluated together. The announcement describes an exploratory collaboration in Singapore, not a deployment already completed by HUMATRIX in Iberia.
